 Jeff and Mark Kile
In 1982, musician Jeff Kile was living in a rural Louisiana tree house when his "natural" surroundings sparked an idea for a uniquely suspended, harmonically tuned windchime. Conventional metal windchimes were suspended with a string through holes in the top of the tubes, which reduced their resonance. Jeff figured that by inserting a pin through the tubes at the resonant node--the spot where the tube doesn't vibrate--he could eliminate the interference of the string and enhance the resonance.
Jeff tuned his original chimes by ear with his guitar. Encouraged by the sound quality of his windchimes, Jeff returned home to California where he and his brother Mark created Grace Notes with money from a $300 tax refund. Now, nearly 20 years later, the finely crafted Grace Notes chimes are regarded as the most harmonically accurate and beautiful sounding windchimes on the market.
