Gary Price
Gary Price began his career creating Native American and Western images, and then later began sculpting wildlife subjects, particularly birds. As a devoted father of four sons, however, Mr. Price discovered his most passionate subject: the magical world of children. Inspired by their sense of joy and wonder, his children provide him with ideas and often act as his studio models. Mr. Price's devotion to his children--and thus his artistic inspiration--stems in part from his own troubled childhood and early loss of his mother. He strongly believes that all children are entitled to a carefree childhood.
Mr. Price escaped his troubled family life through his art. As a teenager, he joined the Mormon Church and later attended Brigham Young University and University of Utah, where he graduated in 1981. He then perfected his skills in bronze sculpture under the tutelage of Utah sculptor Stan Johnson. Today, when he is not busy in his studio, Mr. Price and his wife Lanea spend time developing their own sculpture garden on their 10 acre homesite.
"I want my work to make a difference in your life--a positive, uplifting difference--so that as you look at it in you home or office, in a city park, municipal building or wherever, you feel life is awesome! I hope that your emotions and feelings are touched and maybe even stirred and aroused to the point where you feel like taking action. A talented friend of mine once wrote, "If I can lift you today, you will look back and grab the hands of a thousand more." Nothing could please me more than knowing that one of my works motivated or inspired someone else." -- Gary Price
