Balance
This graceful print of the Chinese calligraphy for Balance comes in a black wood frame.
The original pieces are handpainted on silk. To form a more interesting and abstract background, the Chinese characters are painted first and then the background. As the background is drying, salt is sprinkled on the silk and the dye disperses, creating a mottled effect.
Each background is different because each dye reacts to the salt slightly differently.
